PLOT GC Columns. GS-Alumina is the most polar alumina phase, consisting of aluminum oxide with proprietary deactivation. It is an excellent general-use column for light hydrocarbon analysis (C1 to C8 hydrocarbon isomers) including C1 to C4 saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons and cyclopropane from propylene analysis. Alumina columns tend to adsorb water and CO2 which, over time, results in changes in retention time. This column benefits from an advanced, proprietary deactivation process that allows for complete regeneration of a fully moisture saturated column within 7 hours or less at 200 °C.
GS-OxyPLOT is suitable for ASTM methods for a wide range of oxygenates, including ethers, alcohols, aldehydes, and ketones, in complex matrices, such as gaseous hydrocarbons, motor fuels, and crude oil. This GC OxyPlot column offers accurate analysis of ppm/ppb level oxygenates in the C1 to C10 hydrocarbons. GS-OxyPLOT is a good alternative to gas chromatography (GC) columns with gas-liquid phases, such as TCEP, that are often used for similar applications. GS-OxyPLOT has an upper temperature limit of 350 °C and exhibits none of the bleed normally associated with liquid- and siloxane-coated GC columns. Agilent's advanced dynamic coating process virtually eliminates particle generation and detector spiking.
Standard Polysiloxane GC Columns. DB-5 is nonpolar and low bleed, and is available in a range of column dimensions. DB-5 is also bonded, crosslinked, and solvent-rinsable, and has a high temperature limit. It is equivalent to USP phase G27. The DB-5 column is tested with the tightest industry QC specifications for column bleed, sensitivity, and efficiency. Low Thermal Mass LTM II Columns Agilent J&W LTM column modules combine a high-quality fused silica capillary column with heating and temperature-sensing components for a low thermal mass column assembly. The LTM column module contains a patented design that efficiently heats and cools the column for significantly shorter analytical cycle times compared to conventional air-bath GC oven techniques, while also using less power. Modules for 7890 Series GC systems are available in a wide variety of WCOT and select PLOT column configurations. The LTM II transfer line module has two heated, temperature-programmable tubes (transfer lines) through which the column leads pass, to prevent cold spots between the oven and the column assembly. Each module attaches to a transfer line module, and the resulting assembly inserts into slots in the LTM oven door.
